Land Surface Temperature for India

Land Surface Temperature(LST) product which we are presenting here is MOD11A2. Information regarding this is given in this link https://modis.gsfc.nasa.gov/data/dataprod/mod11.php . Here we are creating MOSAIC dataset for whole India. Temperature will in Kelvin(k) rather than Celsius. In order to get Celsius we have to subtract 273.13 from each cell in the raster. Null value has been added to the raster( where data is not present). Links (for 5 years: 2001 too 2005) can be used to download . Each year has the zip file.  Data Specification: LST : MOD11A2 Spatial Resolution : 1 km Temporal Resolution : 8 days Total size for year : ~ 450 mb If there is any problem in either data or download . Please do mail (shivaprakash.ssy@gmail.com) or comment This data could be used in following research: Heat wave analysis, Climate change study, Desertification study, cryosphere study, drought study, heat wave vulnerability index, urban heat island study and Monsoon varia

Climate Data

Hi, I am Shivaprakash Yaragal, GIS Engineer and a Data Science enthusiast. My data science work is concentrated on Climate Change data. I practice ESDA ie Earth Science Data Analytics methodologies. I am starting a open-data creation project. Open-data would be for Earth Science. This would include parameters like Land Surface Temperature(LST), Vegetation, Snow Cover, Evapo-transpiration and many more. As India is very vast Country, we could achieve the objective of creating Open-data only if its done in stages. Stages could be geographically defined or temporally defined or even parametrically defined. Geographically , i would be starting with my home state of Karnataka. I also wish like minded people to join the effort  of creating Open-data for Climate research and representation. My work here would be concentrating on MODIS data freely provided by NASA program. People can join me with other satellite data as well. Every one is invited. All suggestions are invit
